Geneva Motor Show special

Well if there’s a problem with the car industry, you would never know it as here at the Geneva Motor Show. The great and good are out in force. The show is buzzing with new concepts and big smiles as the men in suits try to put a brave face on to what is a crumbling industry.
Some of the biggest smiles are over on the smaller stands where little known companies are sticking their heads over the trenches and are having a pop at the big boys! Just take Dacia as an example, you have probably never heard of them? They are a tiny company owned by Renault; they make cheap affordable cars that are sold on the continent. But today they have a Concept car that drew Gasps from everyone.
The Dacia Duster looks like a big SUV with suicide doors and massive wheel arches, exactly what a concept car should be all about, something that shouts at you and is proud to show off to the crowd. But, what’s strange is the car outshines anything its parent company have to show. The suits at Renault had long faces and little interest and it showed. So for that reason I applaud Dacia for having the bottle to stick it to the big boys!
Alfa have been busy with the paint brush too as they have had the boys paint the little Mito hatch white and tap into the ipod generation. The reason I find this interesting is the way they are marketing the Mito brand, they have realised that people like you and me like using the internet for Blogging, shopping or just time wasting so they have bought up huge advertising space online and your likely to see them pop up on your screen soon.
The penny has finally dropped and we do feel brave enough to buy an ipod, flat screen telly, or even a washing machine online, so why not a car?
