Sleep talking husband

Sleep Talking Husband - A man a woman sleeping

Karen Slavick-Lennard has recently seen her "Sleep Talkin' Man" blog go viral online.

Karen first started jotting down her sleep talking husband's night time musings on a laptop to entertain family and friends, but such was their amusement that she decided to post them online, and rapid sharing through social networks has seen the words of her sleep talking husband spread all over the web, as well as national newspapers, radio and recently onto TV.

Karen's sleep talking husband, Adam, has exclaimed such oddities as, "I haven't put on weight. Your eyes are fat." and, "My badger's gonna unleash hell on your ass. Badgertastic!", and have captured the imagination of half a million people from over 50 countries.

So what does it all mean? What is Karen's sleep talking husband talking about, and why is it so bizarre?

The answer lies in his dreams, and understanding what they mean and why he has them. Ancient civilisations would have deemed Karen's sleep talking husband's night-time ramblings as messages from God, and it was the Austrian neurologist and father of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud who opened the door to scientific research on the meaning of dreams.

For Freud, dreams provided the key to a theoretical understanding of the subconscious.

Many theories abound, but over a century has passed since Freud first offered his thoughts on dreams to the scientific community, and scientists are still debating whether dreams carry any real meaning or not.

So whether Karen's sleep talking husband is inadvertently relaying his deepest desires, giving messages from above or simply babbling nonsense as his brain categorises the day's events is still open to debate. So what do you think? Leave a comment and let us know.

Here's one of sleep talking husband Adam's recent quotes as a discussion starter, make of it what you will:

"Can you hold... can you hold my starfish? It doesn't like it when I'm getting excited. Oh look, it likes you! Its legs are all cree-py cree-py"

It's all funny now, but what if his dreams become 'erotic'? His wife won't be laughing then!
